I'm writing this article to prove that eating a little healthier doesn't have to be hard and more importantly doesn't have to be expensive. Being a student the cost is always an important factor!

Snack-A-Jacks Caramel 4 pack and Kallo Blueberry and Vanilla Rice Cakes are both available from Pounland. Whenever I see the Kallo ones in stock I always buy at least 3 packs as they are quite hard to find. It's also very hard to find plain rice cakes, often they are salted, chocolate or yoghurt topped and are resultantly not quite as healthy. However what I love about these is that they are deliciously flavoured whilst still being under 1% of my recommended fat, carbs, sugar and salt per rice cake. In fact the only place I have peen able to find completely plain unflavoured rice cake is the 99p store by a brand called Natural Foods.

Aldi Everyday Essentials Porridge Oats this huge 1kg bag is only 75p at Aldi and is great for my breakfast porridge I always prefer to make my own porridge from scratch so that it doesn't have all of the artificial and unnecessary sweeteners and preservatives in it. Plus it lasts for ages, unless of course I make flapjacks!

Often I add a teas spoon of Asda Stevia Sweetener Granules to my porridge but it can also be used in baking or drinks. This tub was only £1.89 which is a great price though the same size tube is only £1 at Morrisons. It makes a wonderful alternative to cane sugar as it contains no calories and is 300 times sweeter in it's refined form than sugar, so a lot less can be used.

Holland & Barrett Chia Seeds were on offer last week, this 275g bag was only £4.45 however they're on buy one get one half price now which is still great value compared to most supermarkets I've seen. The cheapest place you can find them at the moment is Tesco where they are £1 for 150g.

I also try to keep a few packets of plain nuts in the house to snack on such as these Aldi Roasted Pistachio Nuts. Poundland also do great value on nuts and dried fruit, though with the fruit always read the label to make sure there is no added sugar! I really love the yoghurt covered banana chips, though they really aren't very healthy at all!

Nak'd Bars are my absolute favourite shop brought healthy snack though I of course love rice cakes, Yoyo bears and ProperCorn/ Metcalfes skinny Topcorn too! As snacks go they are kind of expensive but make a nice treat every now and again when they're on offer. Even buying them wholesale the cheapest you can get them is 50p a bar which isn't bad really, especially when you consider what you would pay for a chocolate bar or packet of crisps. They're all-natural and vegan bars made just from fruits and nuts. Morrisons have the boxes of four on offer atm so it's £3 for 8 bars, which is the cheapest I've ever seen them. I love the cashew cookie and bakewell tart flavour, though I'm not so keen on the chocoate ones. I really don't know how they manage to flavour them so well!

I've never actually tried plain green tea but I drink lemon green tea daily, at least one mug and I love the Tetley and Cipper Lemon Green tea. I have tried out the cheaper own band stuff at Tesco but to be honest it really doesn't taste as nice as the branded stuff.Tetley is cheapest at Sainsburies at 2.5p a tea bag for a box of 50. Green Tea has loads of health benefits including speeding up your metabolism, burning fat, regulating blood sugar levels and has caffeine in healthier amounts than coffee.

Tetley Green Tea Boost are on offer at the moment at Sainsburies so it's £1 for a box of 20 which isn't the cheapest but I wanted to try them out, I'm really not sure if the health benefits they claim are anywhere near true but they taste great and even if it has a placebo effect of making me less tired I'll be happy. I also enjoy tropical flavoured green teas such as pineapple, peach, passion, lychee and lime so I'm also loving this Aldi Green Tea with Mango.

I hope that what you take from today's post is that eating healthily doesn't have to be hard or expensive! All of the prices are correct on the day of posting.

How cute is the little rosette though?! As soon as I saw it I knew I had to make it. Pinterest is just the best! You can find the rosette here and also the card here. Once I'd got the badge and book I really couldn't be bothered to go and buy a card so figured it would be easier to print it, the only problem is now I don't have an envelope. I'm sure my Mom won't mind though.

I was pretty stuck with what to get my Mom for mothers day, but then remembered that I've been recommending Outlander to her as I thought she'd like the book so I just had a quick google to see where I could find it cheap and I found it for under a fiver at The Works. Hopefully this way I'll also get to read it!

So there we go, a quick and simple present!

I am notoriously bad for not staying hydrated I can go all day on a single mug of tea) so I try to always make sure that I have a Bottle of Water to hand to encourage me to drink more. Usually when I'm bored of revising I just drink as a distraction. More often than not I'll also have a couple of mugs of Green Tea on my desk in a variety of stages. They'll be an empty mug from yesterday that I forgot to move (Yes, I'm a slob), a half drunk one I started then left to go cold this morning and then a fresh one that's too hot to drink. Carrying on with this theme I have to have Snacks preferably healthy ones but not often! They're a great distraction form revision and help raise my blood sugar so that I can work harder <strike>/they just taste nice.</strike>

Now for the actual necessities- Internet Access, whether that's through my laptop or tablet so that I can download mark schemes to papers, plot graphs, check facts or fall into the inevitable whole of procrastination.Colourful Post-it Notes for to do lists, to add reminders or to leave notes or questions on work to teachers. Nice Pens I don't really mind what kind of pen as long as it's black though I've found these PaperMate InkJoy pens from Poundland to be really nice to write with, they're only £1 for 4 so it's rather good value too. I usually like to have music playing whilst I work too unless the room's silent so if I'm at college I use Headphones and listen to spotify. I literally couldn't care less what brand as long as they work.

I also like to have a Plant Buddy sitting on my desk, I just think it's nice to have some greenery and O2 in my room. This fella is called Oswald, I really don't know why I feel the need to name all my plants, particularly as they usually live short lives! If I'm working at home I also like to have a Scented Candle burning to help create a pleasant environment.

With my birthday approaching and it being half term I decided to pop into town with my Mom and Sister, as I rarely get the chance now that I work Saturdays and Sundays. I was after a new pair of heels and bag for my birthday outing. I wanted a pair of heels that were slightly lower and had a chunkier heel so I'd be a bit safer and also a clutch as I don't really have any except my prom one which is rather tiny. Thankfully Primark delivered on both fronts with a big black leather clutch for only £5 and a pair of heels for £14.

I was also after a heavier coverage foundation as though I have been wearing BB cream daily I don't have any 'nigh time' foundations. On the recommendation of a friend I popped into the indoor market to have a look at the make-up and was simply amazed at the prices. They sell a huge range of branded make-up at about half the price of Boots or Superdrug. I picked up all of the make-up pictured for only £22! I brought Rimmel stay matte powder for £3 and the new Maybelline falsies push up drama for £3, the Rimmel Match perfection foundation for £4, Bourjois 123 foundation for £4, a Covergirl lipstick for £1, Rimmel lash accelerator for £4 and Maybelline lasting drama gel eye-liner for £3. Reviews will come soon for most of these products I'm sure except for the Rimmel Mascara which I've already reviewed here and the Rimmel Foundation which I've already reviewed here too.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">*I am aware it is now Winter, but this post has been a along time in the writing haha!
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Now that Autumn is here I feel like it's the perfect time to curl up with a blanket and a hot drink in my pyjamas as the weather's already started to turned here in England. I mean I do that in summer too, but now it's more socially acceptable. I do love summer but there is definitely something special about cosy evenings in with hot chocolate and your favourite tv.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I've tried to avoid the more obvious choices so this is in fact a PLL free zone! I also tried to get options from a variety of genres, hopefully something to suit everyone. Enjoy!

1//The 100- <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; text-align: justify;">As I write this I'm just now sitting down to watch the newest episode of the third season and I can't believe how far the story has come and how well the characters have been/are being developed. But the reason I've chosen to include it among this list is because of how strong the female leads are. They don't do what other people say they should and they don't take the easy option. They have their own opinions and ideas and are constantly trying to do the right thing for the good of the others, even at cost to themselves. There's also a fair amount of action and a little side of romance, particularly a love triangle which I was never a fan of but I'll try to avoid spoilers!

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">2//Agent Carter- This is probably the most well known among feminist TV fans and comic book lovers alike. Peggy Carter, though introduced as the love interest of Steve Rogers AKA Captain America in the first Captain America movie, has managed to step out (gracefully may I add) of his shadow to become a near enough superhero in her own right. After the war Peggy (and women in general) are once again pushed aside as the men return home from the front-line, so the first season begins with her dealing with this at work whilst doing secret missions with the great inventor and scientist Howard Stark (Tony Stark AKA Iron man's dad) on the side. As Agent Carter, Hayley Atwell, plays a proud, intelligent, witty, unapologetic woman who can kick ass both physically and verbally all whilst embodying the glamour of the 1940's. To add to this she is simply gorgeous with an amazing figure and cute British accent. In my eyes this woman can do no wrong. The supporting cast of James D'Arcy, Enver Gjokaj and Lyndsey Fonseca in the first season provide ample opportunity for laughs, sass and cute heartfelt moments aplenty and I cant wait see what the second season has in store.
<span style="font-family: "verdana";">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">3//Sex and the City- <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This is the most light-hearted, comedic of the shows I picked. It's rather an old show now, and you will definitely cringe at the giant mobile phones and the clothes that they wear but it is genuinely so hilarious.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The 4 main characters are all female and pretty sure of themselves which I love. Plus I love the way it explores sex, sexuality, romance and relationships in a light hearted way, whilst still being quite thought provoking.<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">There are times when a scene will play and I don't find it that funny and then 5 minutes later it clicks with me and I can't stop laughing. It's definitely for a more mature audience as you can probably guess from the title. I <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">found the entire 6 seasons for £12 in Cex the other day and was so tempted to buy it, but since I've already watched 3 seasons I thought it would be bit of a waste.
<span style="font-family: "verdana";">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">4// Outlander- The weirdest thing about this one is that I've never actually seen any promotion for this or even seen anyone talk about it on social media except for the booktuber Sasha Alsberg who is obsessed with the book. After seeing her enthusiasm I had to give it a go and was very pleased that I did! As it's set in the Scottish Highlands I decided to watch most of it on my way to Edinburgh in the summer to get me in the mood. It was so surprising how strong Claire was in the story because neither of the time periods that she visits are periods particularly enlightened to equality yet in both the 1940's and 1700's Claire manages to speak up and more importantly get herself heard. Every time you expect her to back down she finds a new and better way of doing things. It's also a great romantic love story with plenty of angst and drama.
<span style="font-family: "verdana";">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">5//The Fall- <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This is a much lesser known option that's again for a more mature audience as it's very dark. It's about the hunt for a serial killer in Belfast and focuses around Stella Gibson who is the lead officer in hunting him. Her philosophies and attitudes towards sex and being a woman are very open and refreshing in a city like Belfast. The screencaps above are from the show and it's just so inspirational the way she deals with the daily sexism and harassment she suffers, particularly in her line of work.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I think that what I've learned most from writing this is that all I want from a TV programme is to see multi-dimensional female characters who are not only able define and lead their own stories but are representative of real women- Which is something I really don't feel I should be having to ask for at this point! As always leave me your suggestions about what I should be watching below...

Don't you just hate those moods when you <strike>need</strike> want fresh baked cookies <strike>and</strike> or cakes but you really don't want to have to make such a mess and have to wash up after and to have to measure out all the ingredients? That is why ready made mixes from the supermarket are so great! But giving pre brought mixes doesn't seem like the most thoughtful gift, which is where homemade mixes come in! They're also miles better because you know exactly what's in them and they are totally free of unidentifiable and unpronounceable chemicals.

There are so many recipes available on Pinterest for all sorts of things-cakes, biscuits, other desserts (I've already ran out of things but trust me there are loads) but I decided to use this one to make a jar of cookie mix for my friends birthday. I paired it with some cute cookie cutters that were maths themed since we both wish to study maths at uni next year. I also used the printable tags that come with the recipe and some cute stripey ribbon to jazz up the jar.

I had a look in Superdrug and Boots for some new lashes as the few pairs I have are looking a little sad but I couldn't bring myself to spend £5/£6 on a new pair so I sadly turned and left. Whilst buying some other things in Bodycare though I spotted the false eyelash section and had a quick look and found that many of the Eyelure pairs were only £3.99, quite a bit cheaper than the other stores. Obviously I had to have a look at every pair they had then and got stuck between this pair and a similar Cheryl Cole pair but these ones won out mostly because I liked the prettier packaging. They have a clear invisible band which is super flexible and comfortable to wear. The lashes themselves are a great length and thickness, looking very natural once applied, whilst being lightweight and comfortable. However I didn't use the adhesive that came with them as I used my preferred Duo glue which I absolutely love as it's so long lasting.

Overall I was really pleased with these lashes especially for the great price of £3.99!

Whilst looking for a Christmas present for someone, I found these Real Techniques Bold Metals copy-cat brushes on Amazon and since I wanted some new brushes, I decided to order 2 sets, one for a gift and one for me. In the end my sister bought my set for me for Christmas! You get 7 brushes in the set, 3 silver, 2 gold and 2 rose gold. I've been using one silver for my brows and the other two for eye-shadow, the big gold fluffy brush for powder, the smaller pink fluffy brush for blusher/highlighter and the wide rose gold for one to apply foundation or highlighter. The only one I'm yet to find particularly useful is the gold, triangular type brush. I used it to contour with but didn't find it to be particularly adept at that, though I'm not rally sure what it's designed for.

The first time I washed them, they stood up very well with no shedding and came out looking like new. Obviously they feel a lot cheaper than the real ones because they aren't made of metal but instead much lighter plastic but that's to be expected at the huge discount. At first that's slightly off putting but once you start using them you don't really notice because they feel much like normal brushes.

The set is available to purchase here for just over a fiver including delivery!

How great is pinterest though? It's my go-to for gift ideas no matter the occasion or recipient. So when looking for an 18th gift for my friend, a hangover survival kit seemed like a great idea. Many sites had cute little printables for their 'Oh Shit' kits with rhymes on, but since I've acquired a new love of painting typography I decided to paint the label instead, and then write a bit of the little rhyme on the back as you can see in the photos.

In mine I included a 'Hangover Hoodie' from here (great product, speedy delivery), Hangover Cure Water bottle from Urban Outfitters, my favourite make-up remover in a handy sized bottle, some super cute hair bobbles (Which I really want myself), a pretty packet of tissues, a sheet face mask from Boots and some of her favourite snacks (toffee crisp bars).

Some other things you could include would be a favourite DVD or box-set, a netflix gift card, an energy drink, more food, mints, mouthwash, hand sanitiser, some painkillers, or other pamper products like lip-balm, cleanser or moisturiser.

I do so love putting themed gift baskets together, if you wanna see some others I've posted about check out this NYC one, Broadway one, Party-in-a-box or a De-stress gift.

This was a highly appreciated Christmas gift which I couldn't wait to use as soon as I unwrapped it. I've used it a couple of times since then, though I'm yet to brave any of the blues/purples/pinks. I have been really enjoying using the darker, purple toned grey shades in the top right corner of the palette particularly.

There is an excellent selection of colours in the palette, almost a whole rainbow, I think its great that whilst about 75% of the palette is made up of very wearable neutral shades in browns, blacks, coppers, silvers, golds and whites they've also included some interesting blues, pinks, purples and greens which I'm sure I'll get a little use out of next Halloween. They also have a great range of matte and shimmer/glitter shades too. The colours are very pigmented but do have a lot of fall out and tend to crumble a lot. They are also quite long lasting on their own, even without a primer they can last well from about 7.30-4 for my average college day.
The only complaint is that due to the size of the palette it can sometimes be a little hard to manoeuvre it and apply shadows. Obviously that isn't really a big problem at all and apart from that I love everything else about it. The palette is still available here on the Make-up Revolution website and I would definitely recommend.

All you need for this simple DIY is a few sheets of card (Any colours you want), a pen, scissors, a hot glue gun and some paper straws (They make them extra cute!). These are all materials you're likely to have to hand so you really have no excuse to make these and use them at your next party!

All you have to do is draw the shapes you want onto the card and cut them out before hot glueing them to the straws. I recommend moustaches, lips, smiles, hats, glasses, speech bubbles and anything else you can think of really. You don't need to be an artist to make them look good, tracing works really well too.

If you're looking for a cheap but cute backdrop for your photo booth I recommend table cloths from shops like Poundland and Home Bargains as over the summer they have some really pretty summery designs like the striped one I used.

I hope you have as much fun with this idea as me and my friends did playing with the props!

In January everyone's looking for a little extra motivation, whether it's getting out of bed in the morning when the sun hasn't even started to rise, if it's picking up your trainers and going for a run or putting down that gorgeous pair of heels that are on sale because you're trying to save. Which is why I decided to put together a little list of my favourite motivational desktop wallpapers because I was looking for a new one myself. Most of them ended up being from the newly discovered DesignLoveFest.com when I did a couple google searches. Their 'Dress your Tech' feature is just brilliant.

Enjoy!

I love reading posts like these in the new year so I thought I'd share some of my favourite gifts that I was so lucky to receive this year off my friends and family. My Secret Santa this year was my friend Sean again and as he did last year he went with a Game of Thrones theme which, of course, I loved! He got me the official GoT colouring book and an amazing art set full of colouring pencils and even watercolour paints, which I have already started using and love, I've always wanted to try this medium. My sister also got me an adult colouring book full of vintage patterns, plus the cute mermaid socks and some make-up brushes which haven arrived in the mail yet :(.

My brother being the techy of the family brought me a portable charger (which will be great for V fest!) and a computer monitor for my desk so I can plug my laptop in when I go to uni and have a bigger screen. He's so thoughtful and generous and I'm so lucky to have him, he even fixed my phone for me when I smashed the screen the other day. His girlfriend brought me the amazing Make-up Revolution palette and lipstick which I can't wait to use, but what exactly does one do with 144 eye shadows?

My nan gave me some money and the Beyonce perfume which I've already had 2 bottles of and love. My mom's cousin came over from America for Christmas and brought us some awesome flavoured coffees which I can't wait to try, but our cafetiere broke a few months ago and we haven't replaced it so I could be waiting a while. And finally my parents brought me a bunch of practical stuff for uni such as stationary and a new laptop because my old one was dying a slow and painful death, some socks, a travel toiletry kit, a sports bra that I picked out and of course lots of chocolate and sweets. I may have already eaten the Chocolate Orange though.

I'd love to read your posts about what you got for Christmas so link them below!

For the last few years now I've been popping down to my local Boots on boxing day to have a look at their half price sale and then going sale shopping with my friend in the Bullring on the 27th. Sadly (for me) my friend was away for the Christmas period so were unable to go shopping on the 27th. consequently I jogged to my local retail park on Boxing day (two birds, one stone, as they say) instead and had a peep at the sales in Boots, TKMaxx and Homesense. Whilst I resisted the urge to buy pretty stationary and home wares in Home Sense, I did Leave TKMaxx with a new pair of mom jeans for only £7 and some new running leggings which I have been eyeing up for a good 6 months I think! They sadly were not in the sale though and still cost me £19.99, why is fitness clothing always so expensive?! In Boots I somehow restrained myself and didn't buy anything for myself but instead bought potential gifts for friends over the year, though I definitely have my eye on that Mojito Kit, am I the only one who buys things as gifts for people rather than buying it for them self as it makes them feel less guilty? I brought a couple sets for guys too as I often struggle more with present buying for boys throughout the year. The best bit is that nothing that I brought from Boots cost me more than £6.50.

I'm really pretty pleased considering that I got my workout and shopping for the day all done before 11am and resisted buying loads of unnecessary stuff like I usually do. My mantra for sale shopping is 'Just because it's good value, doesn't mean you should buy it. If you didn't want it at full price, you don't need it at half price'.

I'm a red lipstick addict, I'll admit it. Why would you wear nude or pink when you could wear red? Dark red, bright red, matte red,glossy red, so many options. So when I saw that MAC were selling a limited edition red designed my the queen or red lipstick Miss Dita Von Teese, how could I possibly say no?

It's a bright vivid true red, comparable to a tomato as they say on the website and contrary to the promo pics it is a matte formula, which I always prefer. It makes my teeth look whiter when I wear it which I love and it is quite long lasting, I'd say 3-4 hours, but less if you're eating and drinking. Due to the fact that it's matte, I do find it to be quite a drying formula, particularly as I needed to reapply it 1-2 times throughout the day. It smells sweet and vanilla-y like all MAC lipsticks, which I find slightly overpowering tbh.

The packaging is literally gorgeous, I love the glossy tube and personally think it's so much nicer than the normal matte ones, much sleeker and more luxurious. The red signature shows off that it's a special limited edition lipstick as well. The signature is also engraved on the actual lipstick too. The box it comes in is also adorned with the beautiful Dita Von Teese across 3 sides, with a bright red interior.My only complaint packaging wise is that as with all MAC lipsticks I wish they printed the shade names on stickers that match the colour of the lipstick as it makes it so much easier to find the one you're looking for at a glance.

At £17 it's comfortably the most expensive lipstick I own, but unfortunately isn't my favourite. Whilst I do love it to pieces, I personally find MAC lipsticks to be overrated, is it just me? I'm still glad I brought it (though I am now broke) as I do really like it and I've always wanted a limited edition MAC product so it's something ticked off the bucket list.

Unfortunately as it was limited edition it did sell out immediately on the 9th when it was released, so it's no longer available, sorry!

Anyone who knows me knows that white chocolate is my favourite kind of chocolate and caramel is my favourite flavour of anything and everything. Coffee, yes, Ice-Cream, definitely. One night after work I was feeling like a nice warm hot chocolate but I didn't fancy the normal one so I had a look in the cupboard and found some white chocolate buttons and decided to make a white chocolate version which I thought I'd share.

To make 2 (You could one share with your sister like I did or maybe just have both) all you need is one bag of white chocolate buttons (About 70g of choc), 2 cups of milk, 2 heaped teaspoons of caramel sauce and squirty cream to top it off. Is squirty cream what other people call it, or is that just me? Whipped cream I guess it might be?

Basically all you have to do is throw it all in a pan and heat it without letting the milk boil until everything is melted and mixed together. Then pour it in to mugs and top off with squirty cream and more caramel sauce.

Simple but delicious...

PS-The caramel sauce in the picture from Tesco is AMAZING, I may have eaten a spoonful of it at a time on more than one occasion.

This whole idea stemmed from the Barry M nail polish in Ruby Slippers, after seeing it I knew I had to make my Broadway-loving sister a Musical themed Gift Basket. Each item is meant to be based on one of her favourite musicals, the only one I didn't include but was hoping to was Pippin, because we saw that together at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I painted the side of the box to look like the Broadway sign and then filled it with all the items listed below, each of which had a tag attached to it explaining which musical it's for, though I'm guessing she won't need much help.

This is another DIY, similar to the Wicked Lyric Bauble that I've made as part of the Broadway Gift Basket I've made my sister. Hopefully the post of the whole gift will be up very soon! Anyway, being the lazy crafter that I am I was simply gonna glue the cushion cover seams together but my mom made me get her sewing machine out so that I could do it properly and I'm glad she did really, whilst glue works perfectly fine, stitches are so much nicer. To make the actual cushion cover I folded the material around the cushion to measure how much I needed and made sure the ends overlapped, then I removed the pillow from that and literally sewed down each open side. If you need a little more help I'm sure youtube or pinterest will have loads of proper tutorials to help you. The material I used was off Ebay and can be found here.

Except for the sewing everything else was really very easy. I just printed out the Newsies logo pretty big and cut around it, before taping it to a piece of black felt and once again cutting round it. I brought self adhesive felt as well so that all I then had to do was peel off the backing and stick it straight onto the cover, alternatively you could just use fabric glue though.

It was really a surprisingly easy project!

Elizabeth Arden Intrigue Eyeliner in umber // Ciate Nail Polish // Burt's Bees Hibiscus Lip Balm // Tropical Print Wash Bag from TKMaxx

I was pretty lucky with my secret santa this year, I got one of my best gal pals who has very similar tastes to me, so it wasn't too hard. By now you must all know of my love of TKMaxx, especially for presents, so I popped in a couple times and picked up the bag, nail polish and eyeliner. Last week when I went in, they had a bunch of Sleek lip palettes which I also brought for a present for someone.

The lip balm I bought a few months ago on clearance in Boots, I got two, one of which I use and love myself. Overall I think it makes a lovely gift all for under £15.

Oh and incase you're wondering the ribbon and gift tags are from Ikea, how pretty are they with brown paper though though?

All you need for this quick and easy Christmas DIY (Which would make a great gift, especially if you used it as a tag when you wrapped another present!) is a clear ornament (the kind that splits down the middle), a small photo of your choice, glitter, two strips of ribbon and some glue.

1// Cut the photo down to size, I used the bottom photo off an Urban Outfitters strip and rounded the edges slightly, and write a message on the back of the photo.

2// Next dip your finger in the glitter and tap it all over the inside of each half of the ornament, it should stick very easily. I ended up with glitter all over my maths hw as a result of this step though.

3// Then poke the image slightly into one half of the ornament and click the two sides together.

4// Once they're together you can draw a strip of glue down each side of the ribbon you're using and glue it over the 'seam' of the ornament, hiding the join.

5// The final step is to take another piece of that same ribbon and feed it through the hole on top of the ornament tying it in a big bow.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">At the more expensive end of the scale is a Stand Mixer, though these can be bought for between £50 to £300+ depending on the brand you choose. Kitchenaid mixers are very popular because of how pretty they are but Kenwood mixers are just as good for a fraction of the price from what I hear. To go with that, you could also purchase a <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Recipe Book or two to start them off. If your friend has a specific diet or allergy such as vegan or gluten free then finding them a recipe book designed specifically for this will be much appreciated I'm sure. For someone who's planning on moving away from home in the new year essentials such as <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Tea and Coffee Canisters, <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Mugs <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">or a set of <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Mixing Bowls would be a lovely practical but also pretty idea. A <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Cute Novelty Timer would be a useful present and would look lovely in a set with some <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Cookie Cutters and a <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Cake/Display Stand to make a little baking themed hamper for a young child. Alternatively a ready made <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Macaroon Making Set is a simpler way of doing that. <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">For a coffee lover a Cafetiere <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">is a good option as it allows them to make freshly brewed coffee from real beans rather than instant coffee. For those that love the smell of freshly baked goods in their home how about a <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Food Scented Candle, loads of these can be found at christmas time. <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">A more novelty idea such as a Donut Maker <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">would be a nice gift too as it's not really the kind of thing someone would buy for themselves.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Two other ideas I've just had whilst writing this are 1) a gift card for a cooking masterclass/experience type thing or 2) Put together a ready made mix (loads of recipes are available on pinterest) so that all the recipient has to do is add butter etc and bake.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This is the final of my gift guides, so I hope I've sufficiently inspired you to find beautiful and practical gifts within your budget no matter what it might be!

Mini Succulents and a Terrarium are great gifts for people who like plants but don't necessarily have any outdoor space to plant lots of flowers etc, plus they are easy to look after. However for a more intense gardener, Tools or a Potting bench would be a great gift. A pretty Garden Sign to decorate an outdoor wall would be a nice present for anyone who takes pride in their garden as would the obvious choice of Seeds to brighten up the garden with flowers. A Seed Box is also a very useful idea as my mum always has envelopes of seeds all around the house getting lost. A nice Hand Scrub or Hand Cream such as this one from the Body Shop is also a great idea to help keep the recipients hand soft and smelling lovely after a gardening session as wearing Gardening gloves and frequent washing can dry them out. A cute Punny Mug is also a lovely idea as they can drink their tea or coffee from it whilst outside and it will remind them of you every time they do. A Personalised Hammer off Etsy or Ebay is a great gift for a family member who does DIY, me and my sister brought my dad one for Fathers Day this year.

I hope this Gift Guide helps you out, particularly with parents or grandparents!

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">For those with the ever popular iphone a Phone Case is an easily attainable and cheap stocking stuffer or secret santa gift. I brought one for a friend the other day on ebay for only 98p which was a wine glass with liquid that moves, very cool! Jewelry suits a recipient of any age and any budget, H&M do really pretty jewelry for great value, or you could got to a fancy jewellers if you're looking for something a little more upmarket. Perfume is always a safe bet for anyone really, though it can be quite hard if you don't know what scents they like or wear. If you know what perfumes they do wear, staff in places like The Perfume Shop can help you pick out a similar one. <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Keep ing to the theme of smells, Yankee Candles are a great gift idea, some safe scents that everyone would like are ones like strawberry buttercream, christmas cookies or vanilla buttercream, though my favourite is black cherry. A cute Wintery Bobble Hat is the perfect gift for the current weather and they're great for hiding a bad hair day too. Another great gift for helping a girl survive the British weather is a sturdy but also pretty patterned Umbrella like this Parisian themed one (I may very much want this one myself). Another item that suits the weather is <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">TV Box Sets because who doesn't love curling up to watch their favourite show when it's raining outside? <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">A little pamper night gift with a nice box of <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Chocolates, a Lipbalm and Hot Chocolate Set would be another great universal gift, perfect for a secret santa gift, friend, sister or colleague. If you don't fancy putting your own gift set together, you can get them ready made at <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Lush. If you're looking for a more expensive gift for a loved one, <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">High End Makeup from brands such as Chanel, YSL, MAC or Charlotte Tilbury would be appreciated by most girls who wear makeup and like pretty things. Which means most girls I know really!
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Two more gift guides left now, aimed more at the parents, so I hope you found this one inspiring...

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I think this is my personal favourite gift guide as the bright colours and copper accents just make it very aesthetically pleasing to me.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">An obvious gift for creative friends are supplies like Sketchbooks, Colouring Pencils/Pens, a <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Calligraphy<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> Pen <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.3333px; text-align: center;">and Watercolour Paints<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.3333px;"> as these type of basic supplies are always necessary. <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.3333px;">TKMaxx is a<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> great place to find cute and quirky slogan Notebook's which make wonderful gifts, as do Pastel Post It Notes <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">or any type of post it notes really as we all know that creative people often have more ideas than places to keep them. I have some great speech bubble ones from Ikea. <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.3333px; text-align: center;">This super pretty Copper Bowl <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.3333px; text-align: center;">or cute jars would be a great way to make a creative space look a little tidier, I know that when I'm making things, I make quite the mess. Plus it's so lovely when everything's organised and you know where to look when you need things. <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Another great gift idea to keep them organized is this <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">gorgeous Sighh Designs To Do Desk Pad<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">, which I could definitely do with myself. Other stationary such as this <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Kate Spade <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Stationary set would make a great gift too, I always find that it's so nice when the day to days bits and bobs of your life make you smile. <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">For the more serious artists out there a Drawing<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> Tablet would be a great <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">or for a cheaper alternative a Stylus to be used on a normal tablet is a great<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.3333px; text-align: center;"> way to venture into digital art, I know my sister draws this way. Finally Art Prints<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.3333px; text-align: center;"> from Etsy or small business like Little Pencil Co and Sighh Designs would look great in this Copper Frame <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.3333px; text-align: center;">from H&M.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I tried to get a mix of presents that would suit males and females as I think most geeky/techy presents are usually aimed at men. A great option for just about anyone nowadays is a phone case or Tablet Case/key pad <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.3333px;"> as they protect your all important devices, whilst making them look stylish and being totally useful. Another great useful product would be Portable chargers <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">as phone batteries just don't last anywhere near as long as they used to because we use them constantly. Who hasn't realised 10 mins before going out that they only have 15% battery? An equally useful but perhaps more boring option is <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Memory Cards/External Hard Drives as I constantly have the issue of not having enough memory on my phone and it's always a good idea to have everything backed up incase your laptop or tablet gets a virus or something. Headphones <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">are another great gadget accessory that everyone would use, similarly a gorgeous leather <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Laptop Case and Organiser <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">like this one (Though this one is ridiculously expensive!) would be very useful, personally I would love to be able to keep my stuff this organised (I definitely wouldn't though). A cute novelty gift such as this Storm Trooper Soap Dispenser <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.3333px;">or <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Darth Vader Mug would make a great secret santa gift too. A TV Boxset or Movie DVD<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.3333px;"> so that they can relive the experience again and again is always a safe bet too. <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Another option is Batman Pajamas or other apparel such as this very unusual Captain America Bra so that the recipient can show off their love of their favorite movie/book/comic <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">franchise. A great tip is literally just to type in the name of their fave show/book/movie/comic into etsy and scroll tough all the lovely handmade items till you find something you love. Finally this <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Slytherin Wall Piece is a great example of room decor so that the recipient can surround themselves with the things they they love at home. Places like RedBubble or Etsy are brilliant for art prints, canvases and hand paintings.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Hope you enjoyed gift guide no.2, my gift guide for the creative one will be up soon...
