I have been using this gingerbread recipe for about 5 years now as its the perfect treat, especially at christmas time. It takes about 30 mins to make and it's always a crowd pleaser, so what's not to love?
Ingredients-
125g unsalted butter
100g dark muscovado sugar
4 tbsp golden syrup
325g plain flour
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
2 tsp ground ginger
1) Preheat the oven to 170c/gas mark 3 and grease 2-3 baking trays
2) Melt the butter, sugar and golden syrup over a pan of boiling water or in the microwave until combined.
3) In a different bowl sieve together the ginger, flour and bicarbonate of soda, then add the melted ingredients and stir till a stiff dough forms.
4) Roll out the dough on a floured surface and then cut into whatever shapes you want, I chose little gingerbread men, and place onto the greased trays.
5) Bake for 9-10 minutes until golden brown, though it may be longer if the shapes are bigger.
6) Let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Or about 10 seconds depending on how hungry you are.
I ended up with quite a few headless gingerbread men unfortunately :(
