Melting Ice Cream Nails

I got the idea here after seeing it on Shay Mitchell's Instagram (I'm obsessed with Pretty Little Liars) but I just made a couple of changes because I didn't think I'd have steady enough hands to paint them all with ice creams! So after my English exam I went home and rather than revising for my next exam, I did my nails. Good choice Katie.
The base colour I used was Essie Crewed Interest and the others were nail pens and random nail varnishes, I only wish I had  a lighter brown as the one I used was a bit too dark.

Send me a picture or link me to a post if any of you try this out, I'd love to see it!

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Nail Polish

A quick post today,I found this is poundland for just a pound (obviously) after seeing it come up on  Hot UK Deals a couple of times. I had been wanting to try the Barry M textured polishes for quite a while, specifically the colour Ridley Road, the minty blue green but they were £3.99 and I wasn't really sure If I'd like it so I didn't take the plunge. But when I saw these in poundland I knew I had to try. They had the pale yellow that I brought, white and black but since I don't have any yellow polishes I thought I'd give this a go.

The only problem I have found with this is it does chip quite easily. Granted I was washing up but this was literally 24 hours after I'd put it on. I'm still not entirely whether I like it though anyway so I'm glad I only spent a pound on it. I like the colour of it and I think the texture is interesting but I'm not quite sure they go together. Perhaps I should have opted for the white?

And to any of you who noticed that I used a Divergent advert as the background, top marks to you,I was actually on my way to see the movie when I brought this!

Nail Polish Stand & Lipstick Holder

Both are these gems were received for my birthday after I asked my parents for them, since my makeup collection is rather overflowing at the moment, but I have to say these really do seem to have solved the problem.

This has been really useful to keep my lipsticks together and ensure that I can see what all the colours are without having to root around in my drawer. I have also taken to keeping my everyday things like concealer, eyeliner and mascara in the front row so that I can grab them easily in the morning.

I recently had a big clear out of all my nail varnishes so I had about 14 left I think. Then lucky for me I received another 7 for my birthday too as you may know if you read my birthday post! Therefore the top tier is currently looking rather empty and I may have to be investing in some more I think!

I got the lipstick holder from here and this is where I got the nail varnish stand from. The price of both of these was absolutely amazing but particularly the lipstick stand yet both are excellent quality.

As a side note, how do we feel about white nail varnish? I can't decide if I like it, please tell me in the comments!

Mini Makeup Haul and Review

All the cosmetics were on 3 for 2 at boots before Christmas, so I took the opportunity to stock up! :D

From left to right I brought Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder, Barry M Matte nail Varnish in crush, Rimmel London apocalips in Stellar and Maybelline the Falsies mascara.

Now for some mini little reviews...

This is how the matte nail varnish looks, personally I was a little disappointed as it didn't really seem all that matte to me. I prefer to wear it with a layer of clear nail varnish over it to make it normal and glossy because the colour is still absolutely gorgeous and the perfect wintery shade!

This is the first bronzer I have ever used and  to be honest I was a bit scared that it would make me look totally orange because I'm so pale thats why I picked up the lighter shade, though you can't really see much difference between  the two. I proceeded with caution and indeed ended up loving it! Its perfect to add a golden glow to my face especially during the winter and just generally stop me from looking so pale all the time.

This mascara has to be one of the best mascaras I have ever used. Before using this my favourite was probably l'oreal telescopic but after using this for a couple of weeks I believe I may have found my new favourite. It lengthens my eyelashes brilliantly and genuinely does make it look like I'm wearing false lashes if I curl my lashes and put on 2-3 coats.

This lip lacquer is absolutely brilliant! Its basically like a really pigmented lip gloss which stains your lips so even after the lipgloss wears off you are still left with a colour on your lips, thats not to say that the lip gloss isnt long lasting though. As a result I really do like it. It's also very  pigmented and they offer a great range of colours which made it rather hard to pick, I also really wanted Big Bang (The dark red) and phenomenon (The shimmerless nude). Although it looks quite orangey in this photo its more of a red-ish colour with a hint of pink I'd say.
I have also now brought Eclipse (plum colour) and Nude Eclipse (Nude Colour) because they are so brilliant! I'll post about them later too!

So what are your opinions on these products?

Christmassy Santa Nails and Primark Nail Art Brushes

After I got home from the German Market on Friday I decided to  paint my nails all christmassy :)
On my thumb I did Santa's face, on my middle finger I did his jacket and on my little finger I did his hat, then the rest were plain red.

I used some new nail art brushes that I picked up in Primark whilst I was out, there were 10 in a pack for £3.

As you can see I have already managed to get nail varnish all up the 2 on the right doing my Santa nails.
The set comes with 1 fan brush, 4 long thin ones in varying lengths and then 5 normal brushes in varying widths and lengths. Plus each brush comes with a protective cover.

Have you got anything christmassy on your nails?

Avengers Nails

I am a total marvel geek, I just love the movies! And what's better than having tiny little superheros on your nails? I used a cheap set of nail art pens that I got on ebay from China a while back so they really aren't great quality but they get the job done. Just about. Anyway this is how they turned out, I'm quite happy with the result considering how bad I usually am at painting my nails...

I just started off with a base coat-

Then I added some more details

And there they are finished-

This was the photo I was using as inspiration, mine weren't half as good though :(

Ombre Nails DIY

I just love painting my nails, its like having little works of art on your finger nails :) unfortunately though I am not allowed to have them painted for school :( so during the summer I made the most of my chance to paint them. In all 6 weeks they were only unpainted for 1 day! Anyway this was one of the little experiments I did on my nails. I also did rose print and avengers nails so I'll probably post them later too .
I was quite happy with how these turned out to be honest and it was a lot simpler than I thought it would be too.
Ideally you need four shades of the same colour but you could probably make do with three. I used Essie Crewed Interest as the base, then Essie camera, then Revlon sweet tart (it was a special edition in a gift set and it is an absolutely gorgeous colour!) And then I used Essie she's pampered for the last colour.
All you have to do is paint one base coat of your lightest colour, let it dry then use a sponge to sponge on the next lightest colour 3/4 of the way up. Then you let that dry and sponge the next colour half way up and then finally sponge on the final colour just on the tips.

I only have the one photo of them because the lighting was quite bad but hopefully you'll be able to see the effect.
