Glitter Lyric Bauble DIY

My sister's Christmas Present is themed around her love of Broadway, each present is meant to be related to one of her favorite musicals (I'm so hoping she doesn't read this!). This one is based on Wicked, which is also one of my favourites, the songs are just amazing, and we love dueting Defying Gravity together. As a result I wanted this present to reflect our shared love of the songs. Cue this lyric bauble.
All you'll need to recreate it is glitter, fine tipped glue, clear baubles and printouts of song lyrics.

All you have to do is write out any word you would like, such as the recipient's name or in my case the name of the musical in glue and then sprinkle glitter all over it. Then leave it to dry preferably overnight, in the mean time, you can cut up strips of paper with lyrics on and curl them by running them along a pair of scissors. Then once it's dry you can just fill the bauble with the curled strips and tie it together with some ribbon or twine. Then it's ready to go.
This present is obviously super adaptable- you could use song lyrics like I have, or a poem, book passages, strips of wedding invitations for new couples, it's really up to you. The colour of the glitter can be changed to match any scheme as can the word on the bauble.
So there we go, I'll be back soon with another DIY involving a clear bauble too...

Day 17: The Tree

I have been meaning to post this for a couple of weeks now but I just keep forgetting to get a photo of the tree! I apologize for the lateness since the festive period is almost over *cry*. Our tree in the lounge is red and gold themed too match the room as it's painted red. Plus there's a nice little cameo of 2 year old me and my brother in the left of the photo.

These rocking horses were always some of my favourite decorations when I was little-
How gorgeous are these ones, can you believe they were from B&M Bargains last year? Me neither!
As a bonus here's our purple and silver tree in the kitchen-

Merry Christmas!

Festive Favourites: Activites

I meant to post this on thursday, sorry! I've been so busy...
Here is the third in my festive favourites series...activities! It sounds a bit random but I thought I'd share with you my favourite things to do to get me in the festive mood.
Our Christmas tree in the lounge
  1. Decorate the tree- An obvious but necessary addition to the list.
  2. Visit the German market-I went yesterday and had my first ever German sausage which  was absolutely gorgeous! We were going to go on the ferris wheel too but we all chickened out ;)
  3. Have a Christmas movie marathon-I've hardly watched any movies yet and I only have 4 days to go :( that will probably be what I do tomorrow in fact.
  4. Christmas present shopping-I LOVE buying presents for all my friends and family, its so great when you find something that you know they're gonna love.
  5. Spend an evening wrapping everyones presents-This ones linked to the previous one really but when you have the perfect present its important to make it look its best
  6. Go to a carol service or similar- Its pretty fun, this year I went down to one in my local park with my mum which was quite fun.
  7. Make a gingerbread house-I am yet to make a free standing one that stands up on its own but hey, its the thought that counts right?
  8. Have or attend a Christmas party-Our annual Christmas Party is tonight, I have made 56 brownies and 30 gingerbread biscuits today plus I have added jam and cream to about 50 mini victoria sponges...
  9. Christmassy Journaling/December Daily Challenge-I love love love my smash journal which I brought in the summer, its perfect for writing down all those festive little tidbits which you don't want to forget. Let me know if you'd like a post on that ;)
  10. Bake some christmas treats-As I mentioned I baked loads of gingerbread today which is my personal fave festive treat but there's loads of other stuff you could try too like christmas cupcakes, DIY mince pies or chocolate fudge.

Blog Anouncement and Christmas Decorations!

Announcement time! This blog is moving to a new URL and Look What I Made will no longer exist. I really hope many of you will choose to follow me over at my new blog. Beauty by a Geek will hopefully be going live towards the end of December 2013, that way I can start the new year with a new name and new blog! I'll see you there!
As a side note I put up all my christmas decorations in my bedroom on Sunday as i mentioned in my last post DIY Glittery Christmas Houses! So I thought I'd show you what my bedroom looks like now...

I spent the afternoon decorating, listening to  christmas songs and watching Annie Claus. All whilst wearing my christmas jumper for the first time. All in all I am seriously getting into the spirit! Christmas really is my favourite time of the year, everyone is just that extra little bit happier in everything they do, even strangers often wish you a Merry Christmas :D

I hope all of you are getting into the Christmas spirit too and will be happy to follow me on my new blog!
