Gifts for the Sporty One

Gifts for the Sporty One
To kick of my series of  gift guides I'm starting with that friend or family member who loves exercising, going to the gym, playing sport and eating healthy AKA the one you are always jealous of!
A yoga mat and yoga mat bag would be great for anyone who does yoga (obviously) or pilates, both of which are great for busy people who don't necessarily have the time to get to the gym as both can be done at home  by watching online videos such as Blogliates. A Water bottle is an essential for anyone really but especially for people who are very active as they need to rehydrate and this VS one is super cute too. At the more expensive end of the scale is a Fitbit or similar gadget for tracking activity, I'd love one personally as I think it would really encourage me to be more active. A Gym Membership for a month or two is also a great present for someone who has everything and it would definitely be appreciated. For pre and post workout many people enjoy protein bars or snacks like Nak'd Bars so buying a wholesale box would be a great way to help someone to stop unhealthy snacking. Some more obvious choices are a Motivational Tank, Sports Bra, Trainers, Leggings or Running Jacket because there is no such thing as too much activewear. Reflective gear is also really great for runners in the winter months as it gets dark so early.
Hope these ideas are useful...

Heat Wave Haulin'

Primark Sneakers £4.00/ EyeCandy False Lashes at TKMaxx £2.99
 Missguided at TKMaxx - £5.99
 Fashion Union at TKMaxx -£7.99
 White Cutout Cami - £5.00
 Basic Stripe Tee - £5.00
Monochrome Bardot Top - £6.00

Imagine the scene- It's England. It's June . And it's 35 FREAKING degrees. People are walking round in shorts, tank tops and flip-flops. And Katie cannot find a single summer appropriate top in her wardrobe. Cue a summer shopping trip!
Shorts are one thing I have plenty of, somehow I thought I needed 4 pairs of denim shorts for those 2 days of sunshine we get a year. But tops are another matter altogether. I genuinely haven't been clothes shopping since Easter either which meant I was far too excited. However I think I kept myself in check pretty well and I'm really happy with my purchases, particularly the two skirts from TKMaxx, the black knee length one is just so gorgeous and so 50's. I'm picturing it with a bardot and heels for a summer evening or with the striped top and flats for a more casual daytime look. The striped tee also looks lovely tucked into high waisted denim shorts as does the monochrome bardot which is so perfectly boho. The shoes were a bit of a brave purchase for me considering I'm very much a monochrome kind of gal but my converse are in such a state that I wanted a new pair of casual daytime shoes and thought these would be great for the summer. The only pair left were this size 5 pair so I took it as fate and picked them up with only the slightest of hesitations at the colour palette and pattern. I'm also slightly in love with the Missguided skirt as I love the slight asymmetrical cut at the hem and the monochrome palette means it will match with loads (hopefully). I might actually wear it for my brothers graduation, though I'm not sure what the weather will be like yet.
Anyway I should probably get back to writing my personal statement now...

Asda Swimwear Picks

Asda Swimwear picks

I'll be the first to admit that if someone asked me where to buy pretty swimwear, a supermarket usually wouldn't be my answer, but as a matter of fact, when my friend Eilis asked me that very question last week, it was the first place that popped into my head. After I was grocery shopping with my mom and saw some pretty bikinis, I decided to have a scroll through their website and fell in love. I'm torn between the black and white floral bikini, the blue floral bikini and the leaf print bikini on the top right, I just adore the halterneck shape as it's so flattering. Technically I'm not going anywhere that I'm going to be needing a swimsuit this year but since I threw all my old ones out, I feel like I need to have at least one!
So to summarise, next time you're grocery shopping, don't neglect the supermarket clothing brands!

On the Friday before we broke up for half-term we had an inset day (Thank you to whoever organises those!) and from previous experience I've learnt that these are the best days to go shopping, since everywhere is so busy on weekends, so off we headed to Primark! And here is what we bought...

Daisy Dress £13
I think I might be wearing this for my birthday party next week :)

Four Ways to Wear a Velvet Skirt

As I mentioned in a previous post, I recently aquired a black velvet skirt and have since struggled with what to pair it with.
This post is probably a bit late really since personally I am already looking forward to Spring but hey!
Also this is my first ever fashion post (I think) so let me know if you guys like them or not,  I guess?
Note: Ignore my terrible posing and pale fake tan-less legs please...

After trying on what seemed like my entire wardrobe, I decided on four main looks-
1) Jumper- I paired it with my new red jumper, black tights and maroon wedge lace up heels. I think this outfit works with the jumper both tucked in and left out .

2) Graphic Tee and Blazer-This is what I wore when I went out with my family for a meal to a local pub, whilst the blazer makes it  a bit more formal the t-shirt makes it a little more casual (And I couldn't resist getting a bit of Harry Potter in there!) and pairing it with grey tights keeps me warm without making the outfit too dark as it would if I were to wear black tights. Also sorry about how blurry this photo is!

3)Denim Shirt and Graphic Tee- This makes the skirt look a bit more casual and would be perfect for spring as it's getting a little warmer.

4) A feminine blouse- Lace or chiffon would go well with this and makes the outfit look a bit more formal great for a meal out. In this photo I'm wearing plain black heels but you could also swap them for flats. You could also add a blazer over the top to keep you warmer.

Which was your favourite look? Tell me in the comments...
